Trees are valuable resources in all cities and offer many benefits to our community. Some of these benefits include:

  • Improved air quality
  • Increased property value
  • Reduced heating and cooling costs
  • Wildlife habitat

Boulevard trees

City crews prune trees located in city boulevards primarily during winter months. Pruning occurs on trees that are interfering with public infrastructure, such as roads, for visibility and safety reasons.

Property owners are asked not to plant trees in boulevards.

What is the city boulevard?

The city owns a strip of land, or boulevard, between the street and the property line, with the width varying by street. The boulevard is part of the city right-of-way. The right-of-way may include public streets, public and private utilities, and sidewalks.

Tree disputes

Many issues regarding trees on private property are matters between the neighbors involved. It is recommended to have conversations with neighbors to work towards a solution. Issues that can't be resolved between neighbors are civil matters and an attorney or other professional help may be consulted.

Tree contractors

If you have a tree on your property that needs trimming or removal, you must use a licensed tree contractor. Licensed contractors have provided proof of liability insurance.
