Shoreview has one mayor and four city council members, all serving at-large.

The city has over 70 volunteers serving on nine committees or commissions. Each group advises the city council on a variety of issues.

Voting and Elections

The city contracts with Ramsey County for elections services. Learn about voter registration, absentee voting, election dates, and polling locations.

The administration department provides general administration for the city and support to the city council. Administration includes communications and engagement, information technology, licensing, and records management and data practices. The department also administers the contract with the city attorney and our public safety partners.

Communications

Shoreview’s communications team uses print, web, social media, television, and electronic signs to keep residents, businesses and visitors updated on Shoreview news, services, and events.

Print

ShoreViews is a city newsletter and recreation catalog. ShoreViews is printed four times a year and is delivered through the mail.

Digital

Access Shoreview is an e-newsletter that is sent out twice a month via email. It includes event information, news items, and a summary of actions taken by the city council.

Television

City council and planning commission meetings are broadcast on Shoreview Channel 16. Meetings are also -streamed online and are available to watch after the meeting has ended.

Local news media

The team works with city departments and community organizations to share news and events with local news outlets.

Social media

Shoreview uses social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram and NextDoor to share news, events and alerts with the community. We encourage you to engage with us and help shape your government.

The city's social media pages are a moderated discussion. The city may hide or delete comments that are:

Profane, racist, or obscene
Personal attacks or hate speech
Libelous
Abusive or inappropriate toward any person or ethnic, racial or religious group
Sexual content or links to sexual content
Encourage illegal activity
Commercial promotions or spam
Clearly off topic
Private personal information
Plagiarized or copyright protected content
Compromise public safety
Support or oppose political campaigns or religious groups

Social media pages are monitored during standard business hours - Monday-Friday, 8 am - 4:30 pm.

Shoreview does not share information gathered through its social media sites for promotional purposes. Any information provided is subject to the Minnesota Data Practices Act and considered public information.

The city may remove or add social media pages at any time.

City attorney

The city contracts with Kelly & Lemmons for legal services. They attend city council and planning commission meetings and handle our civil and criminal prosecution.
